AOC, an in-house brand of the US$ 9.4 billion conglomerate TPV Technology Limited, the world’s biggest maker of flat-screen monitors, is poised to enter new markets such as the Middle East, Central Asia and Africa.
The Taiwan-headquartered company, which manufactures monitors and LCD display units for major consumer electronics companies, shipped 54.2 million monitor units across the globe last year, 28.5 per cent of the worldwide monitor market. While its main markets are China, the Americas, Indian Subcontinent and Europe, AOC now aims to aggressively expand its footprint by focussing on the Middle East, Central Asia and Africa. Commenting on the Middle East entry, Ray Zhuo, general manager for Asia Pacific, MEA and CIS Central Asia, said, “Worldwide, the consumer market is demanding products that offer design functionality, wider applications, green credentials and competitive pricing.” Zhuo pointed out that from 2009 AOC will be focusing on driving its expansion in India, the Middle East and China which showed great potential, in addition to Australia, where it experienced revenue growth of 30 per cent last year. “The LCD market is evolving at a faster rate in these regions and we will be leveraging on our business partners to drive our sales in these crucial markets,” he said. AOC debuts in the MEA and CIS Central Asian regions with a product range that includes the world’s slimmest monitor (9 mm thick) and the world’s first 22-inch monitor with an inbuilt DMP Player (which allows multimedia files to be played directly from a USB stick). Earlier this year, AOC launched Verfino, the world’s slimmest WLED monitor with lowest power consumption targeted at premium home users who desire ultra-slimness and exquisite industrial design and also a new ID of monitors with power savings up to 50 per cent. AOC has appointed ASBIS Middle East and Compunics Technologies as distributors for Middle East. ASBIS has also been appointed as distributor for North Africa and CIS central Asia. |
